'Delay the Inevitable' Ft. Custer, MI- 03.2009:

Another big success at Fort Custer! Thanks to all who came out, it was a blast! Numbers totaled about 50/50 with nearly 150 participants. We also had the privaledge of sharing the base with nearly 1000 National Guardsman, many recently returning from a tour in Iraq. This year we faced new troubles with the base's security rules but it proved no trouble to Wiking. We were able to set up our large troop tent and had volunteer members stay at the tent to act as security for everyone's ammo. Distribution of ammo was quick and painless the next morning. The base is now working on an official security policy specifically for reenactors which will make future events more 'painless' for us.

Many thanks go out to Alfons and Bill Sheets as over all commanders, along with Nook as assistant Allied XO. Also thanks go out to all the guys who stayed in the ammo tent overnight to make sure the ammo was secure. Final score this year was a TIE! 11-11

Wiking is now in the process of securing other sites in the Northern Indiana region for 'Delay' to keep things fresh for everyone. We would just alternate sites every other year. More news in the future for that, for now, enjoy some of the photos of 2009 courtesy of Wiking member Karl Soodla!
